Nauclea latifolia, 300 seeds/$11, shipping $10, phyto certificate $12
Nauclea latifolia (African red peach) is a deciduous shrub or tree with an open canopy, usually branching from low down the bole. It varies widely in height from around 10 metres up to 30 metres according to soil and moisture conditions. The fruit pulp is deep red, watery, sweet with a taste of ripe apple. The fruit is said to resemble a strawberry in taste and texture. The globose fruit is about 8cm in diameter. GERMINATION PROCEDURE: Due to the tiny nature of the seeds, sprout them in a small cup or a germination container with a cover. Carefully spread the seeds on a thin layer of tissue paper, to easily see them when they start to germinate. Keep the content moist and also keep the cup or the germination container covered to maintain humidity until they start sprouting in 2 weeks time and then lift the cover when you start to see green leaves. Transplant them into individual containers when they’re big enough for your like.
